Malware “virus” threat real for messing with your pc!

Potential internet issue some may have on Monday July 9th.  Please read below and take necessary steps to check out your system(s).

About 10,000 Canadians are at risk of being disconnected from the Internet on Monday because their computers are infected with malicious software crafted by a cybercrime ring in Estonia.

“If your computer is infected and you open up a web browser on Monday, you will see nothing,” said Dave Marcus, director of advanced research and threat intelligence for cyber security firm McAfee Labs.

To check your office and home PC’s, laptops, notebooks, netbooks, etc…, go to http://www.dns-ok.ca (put out by the Canadian Internet Registration Authority) and click “I Agree” at the bottom and it will let you know if you are infected.

Please pass this along to co-workers, staff, friends, and family.

If you don’t check and you are infected, you will lose internet on Monday if not cleaned before then and will have to call your Internet provider to have them make changes.

Software programs like Cleanup!, Malwarebytes, Combofix, TDSS KILLer are some programs that you can run to check your system for other malware and hidden software.

Here is some good articles/blog posts explaining the issue and how to fix if the above link finds that you are infected.
